The Backstory

Dear Best Friends,

Before getting deep in the weeds of where my mind has been since I sent out the first issue last week (and trust me, the weeds are DEEP!!), let me share how I got here.

To be frank, I often ask myself how I didn’t get here sooner (“here” being, the state of pursuing an artistic career), and I like to think everyone around me wonders the same thing (about me)! But the answer is easy - I’m a VERY risk-averse person. I imagine it’s a similar story for many people who have avoided this path despite being creatively-inclined.

Creativity has always felt like a key part of who I am - but also a sort of an afterthought. I’ve never fostered the constant but muffled urge to create, never gave it real space in my life or cultivated to the point where I had any real confidence in it. But in the last few years, that has changed.
